Local sparky for Dee Why 2099 — apartments, townhouses, family homes and Pittwater Road businesses. Fixed-price quotes, same-week booking.
Dee Why Local
Dee Why is the densest residential postcode on the Northern Beaches. Most of the work isn't on standalone houses — it's on apartments, strata blocks, townhouses, and the businesses along Pittwater Road. We do this work every week.
Dee Why's building stock breaks down into a few patterns. Closest to the beach and around the lagoon, you've got dense 1960s to 80s walk-up apartment blocks, often three to four storeys, originally wired with ceramic-fuse single-meter setups. Pittwater Road and the streets either side of it are dominated by commercial and mixed-use buildings — small offices, medical suites, cafes, retail. Further inland through Dee Why West and across into Cromer Heights, you get more standalone family homes from the 60s and 70s, plus newer townhouse developments. Each pattern has its own electrical realities.
If you live in an older Dee Why apartment, odds are your unit board hasn't been touched since the building was originally built. If you run a business on Pittwater Road, your compliance schedule for exit lighting and test-and-tag is non-negotiable. If you're in a newer townhouse and looking at an EV, your switchboard probably has capacity for a 32A circuit but the cable run from board to garage might still need sorting. We deal with all three weekly.

Yes, and it's one of the more common jobs we run in Dee Why. The suburb has a huge number of 1960s, 70s and 80s walk-up apartment blocks, particularly around the lagoon and along Pittwater Road. A lot of them still have original switchboards in individual units — ceramic fuses, no RCDs, often undersized for modern appliance loads. Replacement is straightforward in most cases, but strata-titled blocks need the work coordinated with the body corporate, especially if the common-area board is involved. We sort the proposal, the install, and the certificate. Where the common board is at the end of its life, we can quote the whole-block upgrade too.
Yes. Newer Dee Why townhouse developments and the apartment blocks along Pittwater Road increasingly need EV chargers in individual lock-up garages or allocated parking spaces. For townhouses the install is usually simpler — a dedicated 32A circuit from your own switchboard to the garage. For apartments, the strata side is the bigger piece: who pays for power, where the cable runs, and which sub-board it connects to. We help prepare the strata committee proposal and handle the install once it's approved. We work with all major brands including Tesla, Evnex and Zappi. See our EV Charger Installation page for the full process.
Yes. The Pittwater Road commercial strip in Dee Why runs the gamut from cafes and shopfront retail to medical suites and small offices. We handle commercial fitouts, switchboard upgrades, three-phase work, lighting refits, exit and emergency lighting compliance, and test-and-tag for businesses across the strip. Connery Electrical is licensed for commercial work as well as residential, and we issue the same Certificate of Compliance regardless of job size. See our Commercial Electrician page for the full list of commercial services.
