Manly's electrical work is genuinely different from inland Sydney. The suburb mixes early-1900s Federation cottages around East Hill and Fairlight, 1960s and 70s timber homes through Manly Vale and North Manly, mid-century walk-up apartment blocks behind The Corso and along North Steyne, and a small number of new builds tucked into the hilltop streets. Each generation of housing has its own electrical quirks — original fuse boxes in the Federations, sub-standard early-PVC wiring in the 70s homes, single-meter setups in older strata blocks, and three-phase upgrades increasingly common in new builds.
